Fitness Tip – Exercising Outdoors

You don’t have to stop because it’s cold outside. Here’s how to prepare to enjoy your outdoor activities in the winter.
Dress in layers so you can peel as your body temp rises and put back on as you cool down. Extremities should be layered as well (hands, feet, ears) as they are more vulnerable to the cold.  Two pair of socks may be needed and if so a ½ size larger shoe will be beneficial for extra space. Thin gloves under a pair of larger ones or mittens.
Do large movements, running, squats, pushups etc. Are all great exercises because they help keep your core temperature elevated. Make sure you warm up your body before going into full sprints or anything explosive or very dynamic.
