Fuel Up!

Whether you’re replenishing your body after a hard workout or fueling up to take it on both are crucial to performance and recovery. Training on reserves and not properly fueling your body before a session can hurt you more than help. When weight training and doing anaerobic workouts your body uses glucose for the primary source of energy and is taken from the blood. When glycogen storages in the blood are depleted the body will take glucose from the muscles. Therefore, working out on an empty stomach will only aid in the breakdown of the muscles, making rebuilding next to impossible. Be sure to have a few carbs an hour or so before training!
